MIPS32® 24K®、24KE™および34K™ コア･ファミリー向けの
最新Core-Optimized IP Kitを発表

米国カリフォルニア州マウンテンビュー ─ 2006年7月24日 ─ ミップス・テクノロジーズ（NASDAQ：MIPS、日本支社：東京都港区、支社長：中上 一史）およびVirage Logic (NASDAQ：VIRL、日本法人：ビラージロジック株式会社、東京都港区、代表取締役：アレックス・シュバット)は、両社の共同開発による新たなCore-Optimized IP Kitの供給開始を発表しました。Virage LogicのArea, Speed and Power (ASAP) Memory™ とASAP Logic™ High-Speed (HS) IPを搭載した新製品シリーズのCore-Optimized IP Kitは、特にMIPS®プロセッサ･コアの性能を最大限に引き出すべく最適化したIP製品キットです。

Core-Optimized IP Kitは、TSMCの90nm Gプロセスを使用したMIPS32® 24K®、24KE™ および34K™ プロセッサ･コア･ファミリーを対象としています。24Kおよび24KEプロセッサ･コア･ファミリーは、Core-Optimized IP Kitで統合した場合、公称しきい値トランジスタを使用するだけで最高660MHzの動作周波数を達成することが可能となります。

MIPS32 24K、24KEおよび34Kコア･ファミリーについて
MIPS32 24Kおよび24KEコア･ファミリーは、660MHz動作周波数を達成可能（90nm Gプロセス使用時）な、組み込み市場向けの業界最高性能32ビット・シンセサイザブル･コアです。また、高性能の達成のみならず、開発期間の短縮や、製品コストの削減も可能にしています。これらのプロセッサ・コアは、デジタルおよび双方向テレビ、セットトップ･ボックスやDVDプレイヤーを含む組み込みデジタル家電アプリケーションに適しています。24KEおよび34Kコアは、MIPS® DSP ASE（特定アプリケーション向け拡張機能）を搭載しています。このDSP拡張機能により、単純なRISC実装と比較して、様々な組み込みアプリケーションにおいて3倍近い信号処理性能を達成します。
34K™ コア･ファミリーは、さらにマルチスレッド･ソリューションを提供する初のMIPSコアです。これにより、SoC設計におけるダイサイズ、コストや消費出力を大幅に低減することができるだけでなく、システム性能効率の向上も可能になります。34Kコアは、プロセッサの使用効率を上げることでメモリ遅延や他の短時間のパイプライン･ストールを最小限に抑えることができるように設計されています。一つのスレッドがメモリ処理のためにストールされるとパイプラインにスレッドが追加され、結果として大幅なアプリケーション･スループットの向上が実現されます。
